Beaver slides: Beaver lodge and feed pile Beaver droppings Feed piles I set all the runs I can find. I use long chain/cable on all my 330's. Most of the time you can find runs leading to the feed piles. You can always find runs leading from the dens. Usually ways out of a den, one is typicly used for a discharge hole. This would be where they would discharge any sticks, debree they gather in the den. The slides can sometimes be set with a 330, but it is easier in these places to set a foothold or a snare. No lure really needed in any of these places, as the beaver have already established a reason to use these area's, but castor on a run will usually encourage them to use them sooner rather then later. Now I'll go into a blind set..My uncle (long time beaver trapper) is set in his way's. When I first set this area, he told me I was wasting my time, and doubted I'd catch any beaver. However..the Island told a different storey. Lots of cut sapplings told both of us the beaver have been using the island, but a lack of where they are coming on shore was fusterating to say the least. Well, we where setting the area for rats (rat runs everywhere..) and I found the main "channel" the water was cutting through the island. It was just deep enough for a 330 (they have to be completely submerged in Iowa). So, I set up a few guide sticks, and one dive stick, right over my 330. I took 4 beaver in 7 days from this spot..
