To lessen pan tention on a dogless needs to be a slow process. Each trap will require a different amount of filing. The filing you do will need to be at an angle like shown in the first picture. You just need to remove a bit of the corner (don't matter which corner, as long as you are not filing stright accross). Here is a picture of the "dog" with a bit of the corner removed.. File for a little bit, and test the tention. Repeat and Repeat until desired pan tention is reached. If you file too much off you will need to weld a bit onto the end, and start over.
