All these trap mods were made from 20d or 30d nails. You can easily make jaw lams by trimming off the ends and shaping with a hammer. I use the peen end of my anvil(you can also make nice bending tools and cutting tools for the HARDY hole in a anvil too) but a heavy pipe in a vise will work to. Just a few licks, 4-6 is all it takes. this is the closest trap i had a hand so it got to be the demo. both these lams cost me 6.25 cents I like to fasten my trap chains on single longs opposite the spring so I made this "baseplate hook up" espically for that style. 3.12 cents in it. The sterling swivels cost about 11 cents each to make the way I buy the materials. here are some different things all made from 20d/30d nails.. Laminations, swivels, baseplates and S-hooks... So I have 20 cents in modifying that trap. the same is easily done with a coil spring. Just something to think about and give you ideas
