Ok, this is just how I do it, works for me... First start with some traps that need modifying... Then cut some baseplates (here I'm using 1"x1/8" flat stock.) Then bend your baseplates... Put your d-ring on and weld your baseplate. Here I also tacked the frame. Then put your lams on, I start by tacking it in the middle first. You can put something between the jaws to line it up if your want, just as easy not to imo. Make sure they are straight and even with the jaw, this one is not quite perfect (dang-it). Install rods dogs to try out this year, nightlatch, set the tension.. Level jaws and pan. Set your chain up. Here I put a homemade nail swivel coming off the D-ring (thanks for the tutorial LYNXY), then two crunchproofs in-line.
