Here is how I skin my muskrats. Its a little different that JC, this method also keeps the guts from spilling. The opening cuts are the same as JC's. Ankle to Ankle, then behind the tail like JC. And I will work the legs free from the hide. Then I will stick my hand inbetween the carcass and the skin and just work my hand back and forth and that will seperate the meat from the skin. I will stop when I get somewhere near the front legs. Then I will set the muskrat on his rump. And grab his head with my left hand, and the fur that was attatched to the tail with my right hand. (two pictures to show each hand grabbing the correct position) Once you have a hold of the head and the bottom of the fur, push the head down, and pull the bottom fur towards yourself. Then you will want to cut the ears, then the eyes will come next. Just take your time and make sure the holes stay small. Take your time around the head, after you get done with the head, the front legs will need to be pulled through. I just work the arm pit loose form the skin and then just pull it all the way through, no need to cut anything there. After you get done with the front legs, grab ahold of the ribcage with a hand and then grab the skin with the other, and pull your hands away from each other. After you do that, this is what it should look like. Notice no guts spilled all over. And after this step just cut the fur from the butt. And here is your finished product! Kyle Moses
