Over the years I have paid little attention to trap chains, other than the stock chain they came with a trap, and not knowing what their names were. In recent times, since a member on a few trapping forums, I have become more aware of chain types by listening to trappers talk about adding, or modifying stock chain by changing it out. And, in addition, the "chain" used for drags, on earth anchors, stakes and drowning units. I didn't have a clue beyond a guess what a twist link was from a machine link, etc. With a little determination to fill the void in my twisted thoughts about whose link belongs to who and what, I finally know better now. For those not familiar with chain terminology, the following references to them below may help you become familiar with chain jargon. There may be others that I am not aware of. If so, please feel free to chime in with additional references. Chain sizes and dimensions (the "A," "B" and "C",) along with additional chain descriptions are in this reference - the source of the photos: www.allproducts.com/metal/dotto/15-machine_chain.html You'll have to click around a bit on each chain type for the specs on each one.
