Here is a cheap, yet effective way to build a catch/release pole For this example I am using: 7 ft 6 inches of 1/4" cable 1 - 1 inch sch40 PVC 55" long 1 - PVC end cap 1" 1 - clothes line tensioner (available at hardware store or Wal-Mart etc.) 1 - aluminum ferrule/stop (annealed nut can be substituted) 1 - flat washer Tools etc. you will need: hacksaw (to cut PVC to length) ferrule crimper or heavy hammer drill with appropriate size bit (for my example I used a 1/4") PVC glue cable cutters or another method to cut your cable I haved added instructions to the pictures ... study the pictures ... they should just about explain what is what A handle such as the type found on small engine pull ropes can be added to the excess cable end ... or just crimp on a ferrule to keep the cable end from fraying The tensioner allows the cable to travel in one direction only ... grasp excess cable in your hand ... place loop around critters neck ... continue tightening the loop ... to release pull back on the spring loaded knob on the tensioner ... it is way less to it than what i just tried to explain in type This is a very simple and quick task Hope this helps!
