Using DP traps...
Here's one set and ready to catch coons...
Here's a few of them in action as well...
Some info on them...
When the coon takes the bait, the trap catches the front foot between the toes and wrist every time, that will keep your coon loss very low, no more chew outs or toe catches, If you are a coon trapper this trap will put $$ in your pocket, There is something about a hole that a coon can not pass up, The coon must pull the trigger up to trip the trap, You must have a setter to set all of your DP traps. If you bury the trap in a bank, It also makes the trap look like a crawdad hole, This is a very productive set, Very few coon will pass it up. Believe me a coon is not a bit bashful about putting his foot in a hole, You can set these traps on top of the ground with a u bolt, or a nail on each side to hold it in place but all the springs and locking devices are inside the box, so you can bury this trap for a dirthole.
Try clicking the video link below, it should help you figure them out.
EDIT:
My current modifications to the trap to speed set-up, provide better swiveling, and secure parts...
A look inside...
A new updated video, just click on it...
When I set them up this way, it takes about 18 seconds to set and BAIT them with marshmallows and have them ready to stick in the ground. I can't set AND BAIT any other dog proof traps much faster than that. Video has other info on the jaw faces of the trap as well. Hope it helps some.
