1. Cut the rivet with bolt cutters that holds the trigger and discard it.
2. Find a nail or bolt that will fit the three holes the rivet was removed from. (I drilled out the holes a hair and used a 30 penny nail)
3. clamp the dog of the trap into the vice and using the side of a small file, file a notch in the side like so (be sure its on this side of the dog)...
4. Clamp the dog in the vice so the hole is just below the top of the jaws and the notch is sticking up above the jaws. With pliers twist the end of the dog straight sideways, like so. (I heated mine with a small propane torch to insure it wouldn't crack) Be sure to twist it to the correct side....
5. Grind the tip of the piece that sticks out a little shorter so it can fall through the notch in the dog (not much).
6. reinstall the dog UPSIDE DOWN! If you reinstall it right side up it will not have room to push down to fire.
7. put a nut on (I'll tack weld mine. If you use a bolt, use a lock nut) or peen over the end so it can't go back through the holes.
Completed (minus the tack weld on the nut)...
The whole thing took like 5 min. and I wasn't hurrying.

This is kind of a side piece to ADCs DP trigger mod thread in the archives. Here's a way to add a ring trigger to your DPs. First you need to get some 5/8" lock washers. I removed the plating on the ones on the left with muratic acid. Next, I place a washer in a bench vise and spread it open with a large pliers. After that you need to grind/sand the gap in the washer to make it larger. A 1" belt sander works well for me. When finished bend the washer so that it is flat again. The next step involves the trigger. Use a hacksaw to cut approx. 7/8" off the end. Here is the shortened trigger and the lock washer with the widened gap. Next, place the washer in the vise and insert the end of the trigger and close. It is now ready to be spot welded. I weld the top and bottom. After welding your trigger is complete. Follow ADCs thread on removing and reinstalling the trigger. I used a 20 penny nail and a 1/4" nut. This required me to drill out the trigger and holes in the trap with a 13/64" bit. Completed trap... I will say, making these is not a fast process. I bought Carlis's triggers for the bulk of my DPs and they are a top notch product. For someone who wants to try a few ring triggers or 2-way triggers this is a mod you can do to a few to see if you like them.
